One of the Industry’s First Guided Instances on Amazon Web Services Allows Participants to Leverage Data Virtualization in a Real-World Analytics Scenario in Less Than Two Hours
In an effort to help organizations better understand data virtualization (DV) and how they can use it to gain fast and easy access to unified business information, Denodo, a leader in data virtualization, today announced the general availability of a free Test Drive environment for evaluating the benefits of the Denodo Platform in a live instance on Amazon Web Services (AWS) and is available at https://bit.ly/2QvTDDq.
The new Test Drive connects and combines data from multiple sources such as Amazon Redshift, Aurora and S3, and is designed to demonstrate the power of data virtualization technology. Using the Test Drive, individuals can experience the speed and ease with which cloud-based DV solutions can integrate large volumes of data – without replication – to support their agile BI, big data analytics and Web/cloud integration objectives.
“We deployed the Denodo Platform to aid us in moving our data analytics platforms to the cloud, and Denodo data virtualization played a critical role in that journey,” said Avinash Deshpande, Chief Software Architect at Logitech. “The Denodo platform, already excellent, is constantly evolving, and getting better every day.”
While the “Test Drive” concept is a relatively nascent approach, Denodo is one of the first to allow companies to leverage data virtualization, while helping to reduce any barriers to entry for this important technology. As many organizations continue to struggle with data management as a whole, Denodo’s new Test Drive lets any user experience the creation of real-time data delivery. This allows business users to discover, explore, prepare, and access data in a user-friendly interface for true self-service.
Once users have the opportunity to experience data virtualization without having to install and configure the technology, there is a significant uptick in comprehension along with a rapid learning curve. Dave Wells, an analyst at Eckerson Group recently commented, “Data virtualization provides real-time access to data, freeing business users from chasing down data from various sources. With data services presented through a ‘storefront interface’ where data users can shop to find best-fit data to meet their needs, the pain of data seeking, and data evaluation is quickly relieved.”
Denodo’s Test Drive provides a private sandbox environment containing a preconfigured solution that allows data architects, BI developers, data engineers, and data scientists/business analysts to see first-hand how data virtualization allows them to take advantage of multiple data sources independent of location and format with zero replication to speed time to value. In less than two hours and using a step-by-step guide and virtual reality-like environment that uses cloud data sources and DV techniques, participants can launch the data virtualization instance, login to the Test Drive environment, and learn how to use the offering in a real-world context.
The Denodo Platform streamlines migrations to AWS and unlocks many of the potential benefits that the cloud has to offer. More importantly, it can accelerate data access in just about any modern configuration, including hybrid configurations that include legacy systems.
“For years, we have been extoling the virtues of our approach to data virtualization, but now we have the chance to help educate organizations of all sizes, and across all industries, about the value of DV,” said Ravi Shankar, CMO, Denodo. “Our team expended significant time and resources to make our DV Test Drive possible and to continue our mission of educating the industry about data virtualization. Thanks to our Test Drive, participants no longer need to download, install, connect, configure, or enter their credit card as it’s all done for them. It’s fully provisioned, already connected to some data sources, and gives guidance on how to run it. And all of this can be done in under two hours.”
Denodo also announced that it has achieved Advanced Technology Partner status in the AWS Partner Network (APN). Achieving APN Advanced Technology Partner status demonstrates a significant achievement and acknowledges Denodo’s commitment to delivering reliable, full-featured solutions on AWS. Reaching this status also demonstrates that the Denodo Platform has successfully passed AWS’s series of rigorous technical validation tests to demonstrate AWS expertise.
